I had asked the students of the class to post their understanding of the difference(s), if any, between morals, values, ethics - interesting perspectives - own or borrowed from the www would have done quite well. The silence is staggering - if this is the extent of involvement, the course is dead before it begins. You need to understand life at Praxis - talk to your seniors.

Cheers!

sir,

Values
Values are the rules by which we make decisions about right and wrong, should and shouldn't, good and bad.

Morals
Morals have a greater social element and tend to have a very broad acceptance. Morals are far more about good and bad than other values.

Ethics
Ethics are standard of conduct and more of norms to be followed in the society.

sorry for being irresponsible.

Respected Sir,

I am very sorry for i had the impression that we would be discussing it in class itself , hence no response.

MORALS: It relates to the conforming to a standard of right or wrong . It basically relates to principle of right or wrong.

VALUES: It is more of personal in nature . It varies from person to person .
One thing may be right for a person but wrong for other

ETHICS: It is more of a standard that governs the code of a person especially a member of a profession e.g. a C.A. or C.S. etc.

Thanking you,

Anuj Sharma.

Sir,
Please accept my sincere apology for being so careless. We were under misconception that it would be discussed in the class & not to be posted on KK.
Here is my take on these terms:-

Ethics-Ethics seeks to address questions such as how a moral outcome can be achieved in a specific situation.

Morals-It can be defined as a code of conduct or belief which is held to be authoritative in matters of right or wrong. It is arbitrarily created and subjectively defined by society, philosophy, religion or individual conscience.

Values-They are a shorthand way of describing our personal motivations and what we consider dear and important to us.There are positive values, which tend to be fairly universal and enduring or values that are potentially limiting.Ex-trust,passion,caring,sharing,fairness and integrity.

Respected sir ,
I am very sorry for not completing the assignment and i promise that it will not be repeated in future.

Morals and the expression, “moral values” are generally associated with a personal view of values. Personal morals tend to reflect beliefs relating to sex, drinking, gambling, etc. They can reflect the influence of religion, culture, family and friends.
Ethics is concerned with how a moral person should behave. Ethical values are beliefs concerning what is morally right and proper as opposed to what is simply correct or effective

Dear Sir,
Sorry for being so unresponsive and careless. We shall not let you down again.
I am mentioning here what I feel these words mean. The subtle nuances of such words, though, are for the linguists to explore and study. But thanks to you that we were compelled to think how these similar words may slightly differ from one another. I am just putting into words, as best as I can, what I think these words imply.
Ethics- Ethics are normative; these are the basic standards of good behaviour prescribing what is good/fair and proscribing what is bad/unfair. Ethics are the standards that deal with our moral obligations.
Morals- This word is used interchangeably with ethics. It refers to the principle of rightness and wrongness.
Values- Values are notional and subjective. They are our personal convictions. Something that we consider right and believe in, without anyone else dictating our conscience.
This is what I make of the words. Kindly give your comments and educate us about the subtleties of the language.
Thanking you,
Pranav Mishra

Respected sir,
I am really sorry for the mistake.I promise you that wil not be repeated in the future.

Value theory encompasses a range of approaches to understanding how, why, and to what degree humans should value things, whether the thing is a person, idea, object, or anything else....

A moral is a message conveyed or a lesson to be learned from a story or event. The moral may be left to the hearer, reader or viewer to determine for themselves, or may be explicitly encapsulated in a maxim.

Ethics is a branch of philosophy which seeks to address questions about morality, such as what the fundamental semantic, ontological, and epistemic nature of ethics or morality is (meta-ethics), how moral values should be determined, how a moral outcome can be achieved in specific situations (applied ethics), how moral capacity or moral agency develops and what its nature is (moral psychology), and what moral values people actually abide by (descriptive ethics).

Dear Sir,
I am really sorry for not posting the assignment in KK.I thought that it would be discussed in class.

Here is my opinion on the terms: Ethics,Morals and Values

Ethics-Ethics basically means a code of conduct, the way you are supposed to behave in a human society.

Morals-Principles of behaviour based on the concepts of right and wrong.

Values- The accepted standards or moral principles of a person or a group. Values are similar to norms in having a moral and regulatory role, but values have a wider significance than norms in going beyond specific situations. Values are viewed as informing norms in different contexts.

Sorry sir. It will never happen again.
ethics-ethics is the interpretation of human conduct through moral decision -making as to what is right or wrong or what is good or bad.
moral-it is a lesson we learn from a story about right or wrong. It is accepted manners and customs of fair living in society.
values-It is the set of rules which helps us to make decisions in a particular situation.
