couple of points ..
instead of posting on the general discussion forum may i suggest that you create a group for yourself ( or your course ) and post all discussions in the group forum. there is no authorisation required, you can create your group yourself ( just like an ORKUT group ) and you will the admin.
secondly, files and other digital artefacts can be uploaded as attachments to the discussion post OR as an attachment to comments .. so you need not bother about box.net or any other external agency.
