At the start of the season, things were not looking so great. United made what may only be described as a disaster of a start to the new campaign. And Rooney's continuing bad form only added to it. Then came September and we lost Antonio Valencia, one of our most influential players, to a horrible injury inflicted in the Champion's League Group game against Rangers. It seemed that we were going the 'Liverpool way'.

I first read this book in 2002. It was only my second Maclean. I wasn’t hooked to the genre yet. But this book did it for me. I fell for Maclean hook, line and sinker.
